ARTEL Opens Canadian Office to Support Demand for Liquid Handling Quality Assurance Products and Services

Westbrook, ME (September 8, 2008) – ARTEL (www.artel-usa.com) opened a Canadian office to meet growing demand for its liquid handling quality assurance products and services in the region. Located in Montréal, Québec, ARTEL Canada will provide technical support and training to help laboratories optimize their pipetting and automated liquid handling operations, and improve data quality.

ARTEL Opens Canadian OfficeCanada is the fourth fastest-growing life sciences market in the world,1 leading to an increase in demand for laboratory quality assurance technologies. Currently, Canadian public health, medical, forensic and pharmaceutical laboratories rely on ARTEL products and services for pipette calibration, pipetting technique training, and verification of automated liquid handlers.

“ARTEL believes in personalized customer support and consultation,” said Kirby Pilcher, President, ARTEL.  “Due to our expanding customer base in Canada, which is ARTEL’s second largest market, maintaining a permanent presence in the region was essential for us to provide the high-quality service that we are known for in the United States.”

Led by Hazem Zanoun, Applications Specialist, ARTEL Canada will provide pre- and post-sales support for customers of the ARTEL PCS® Pipette Calibration System and MVS® Multichannel Verification System, including installation and validation services, and user training.  ARTEL Canada will also administer the company’s liquid handling quality assurance services, including onsite verification of automated liquid handlers and pipetting technique training.

“Currently, services are the fastest growing portion of ARTEL’s business, due in part to the lack of laboratory staff resources,” said Pilcher.  “This trend is also spurring demand for easier to use, efficient laboratory technologies, including our bench-top liquid handling verification systems.”

The ARTEL PCS and MVS perform calibrations in minutes and deliver documented, traceable data regarding the performance of pipettes and automated liquid handlers.  The systems are based on ARTEL’s proprietary ratiometric photometry, which utilizes dual-dye, dual wavelength technology to make extremely accurate and precise liquid volume measurements.

“This is my ideal job – to work with motivated, quality-minded customers with whom I can share ARTEL’s expertise in laboratory quality and productivity.  We are enthused about working closely with all of our customers in the region and supporting the future growth of the exciting Canadian life sciences market,” said Zanoun.
